Years 3-6 students with families from a migrant background can attend our Homework Club once a week. Here students will work with volunteer tutors to complete their homework in a friendly and warm environment. Tutors are mostly high school students, but also include university students and adult volunteers. The program is also able to provide activities that are designed to improve their reading, writing and understanding of English. It also assists with transition, as homework club participants already know some of the students at the local secondary schools.
In addition to this, the program supplies students with free excursions outside of school time, such as attending the Arts Centre to view a play and optional camp activities. The program is supported by the Edmund Rice Foundation. The program runs from 3:45-5:00 on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, but students only attend once a week.
If you would like your child to attend Homework Club please speak to your child’s teacher or Tom Misson as spots are very limited.
