Numeracy

At Sunshine Harvester Primary School it is our aim to ensure all students obtain the knowledge and skills that they need to be able to perform daily mathematical tasks.

Our program focuses on building students' understanding by providing hands-on, engaging activities that link mathematics to real life ideas and experiences. We support students to explore, question, work logically, visualise, estimate, explain, generalise, justify and prove when working mathematically.

Sunshine Harvester Primary School uses the Victorian Curriculum to guide and deliver our teaching and learning programs. Ongoing assessment is used to identify the individual learning needs of each child. When required, we provide intervention and extension programs. Students from Years 3 to 6 are encouraged to participate in the Australian Mathematics Competition each year.

Each student has a Mathletics account which they can access from home, to help them continue practising skills learnt in the classroom and to share their learning with their families.

Student learning is also shared with families on Seesaw, our digital communication platform.
